Classic/Vintage 911 Interior
This car came to us with a simple request, to remove old carpet and install new. This seems like a simple task to the outsider but to the skilled technician required to preform such a task its not as easy. Unlike classic American muscle cars where the interior carpet is simply held in place with trim and fasteners, classic European cars have those same trim and fasteners in addition to glue and adhesive.
First step is to remove the seats, trim & fasteners. Next was to convince the client that the seats needed recovered while they were out, so we sent them out for rework. While waiting on the seats we got to work on the interior of this classic. Pulling up all of the carpet and scrapping up the adhesive. The new carpet was now ready to start trimming and fitting. The process is rather lengthy of gluing one part down while stretching the pieces around curves and gluing as you go. Once the carpet is all set in place and glued down it needs a day or 2 to air out, the adhesive has a terrible vapor. After the car airs out the trim and seats can all go back in. This is one area of a well preserved classic that sometimes just needs replaced no matter how nice the exterior of the car is.
